Community-driven Item/NPC/Quest Databases
Greetings,
Apologies if this isn't allowed here, so please delete it if that's the case. As some of you are already aware, Curse launched a very comprehensive database for Vanguard upon the game's release, with the help of the great Vanguard community. We've really put together a very strong set of community tools on Curse, and feel that the best way to foster a community is the involvement of that community in the website. With that in mind, we created the Curse Vanguard Database - a free database/character profile system - created primarily by the community, as they play the game. One of the great things about the Curse Vanguard portal is that contributing to the database is extremely simple; all it requires is downloading the Curse client and running it while you play the game - the information is collected and periodically uploaded to the Curse database. For those of you that played EverQuest, this is very similar to the Magelo client and how it collected data for their profile system. Not only does the client submit information on items, NPC's/entities, quests, and chunks, but it also uploads your character's profile to our database, allowing you to show off your character profile to other players. An example of the profile system at work can be found here: Nendain's Characters As you can see, the profile shows equipped items for everything you would see in-game by browsing your character window. We appreciate the contributions everyone has sent in so far, and look forward to continuing our support of the Vanguard community by providing a free, rich Vanguard database where new and old players alike can visit and learn something they may have not known before. - Curse VG Portal Staff @ vg-en.curse-gaming.com |
