Shields

My Warrior is Sword and board whenever he tanks for a group which is the majority of the time, however I still have the shield I got for my defensive armor quest. All my other equipment has been upgraded as I leveled from drops and quests, all except the shield.
I started looking and I havent seen too many people with different shields.

So what Im if there is a major lack in the amount of shields in game or am I missing all of them b/c an extra 29ac is ok but If its between that and 2 hander crits, Ill take the 2 hander crits.

Shields seems a bit rare at the moment, anything above the Rusty generic mob dropped ones, is pretty rare least on Gelenia.

Gulgrethor is experiencing similar problem - lack of shields in the game. I see quantitatively enough shields for levels 5-15 or so, and not even that many shields for 15+.

Qualitatively though, there is only like 5-6 different shields I have seen so far. I do not think shields are itemized well right now.

I don't remmeber the stats cause I don't have it any more but if you're on Thestra and are relatively low you can get the Basilisks Shield really easy which is a great sheild at lower levels. It's a level 13 Shield with I think 63 AC, 25% chance to block and some good stats. It drops off the Basilisks Brutes which are overtop of the toll cave. They're just a 3 dot mob with quick spawn times. Also drops a lot of good Martial gear. Very easy to Duo, no healer required.

decent tanking shield can be found in skawla off named turtle = Ghezra's shell 88ac 6con 66hp or so from memory. 4dot low 20's mob.

in beta the next shield i had was shield of the basilisk and convoked jharru shield both around 110ac. never saw one drop. i also recall seeing a legendary shield with ~ 120ac but cant recall the name.

Shields are retardedly rare. When a good one does go up on the broker, it's usually priced several times higher than equivalent gear for other slots.

This seems like a balance issue, since shields are so important to the defensive fighter classes.

I don't remember the mobs name, but I got the shield off him the other night. He was a 5-dot lvl 21 Troll walking in the river by Lakeview on Thestra.

The shield stats were silly cool. The AC was 100 and there are some stats on it. I will get the exact stats on it as soon as I can.

**EDIT - Gorzags Toenail is the name of the shield.

you know, on curse gaming and vgmmodb, im not even seeing the Block % (vs. Lvl X) in any of the stats for any of their shields....

so how does the block % vs. lvl x function?... for instance, how would

20% block vs. lvl 11

compare against...

12% block vs. lvl 18

these are basically the stats of 2 cheap (5s) shields i found on the brokers...which seemed like the best deal...most really decent shields were 30-99 silver.

crafted shields are probably much better right now, no?
