What will be the influence of gear .....

Has anybody found any information on the subject? If not what do you all speculate? Coming from WoW most recently Im used to gear being everything. In fact you had to lug around extra pieces parts and sets far too often for my liking. DAoC and UO on the other hand sure it helped but you could make do with far lesser gear.

I don't care to link my sources, because they very rarely read as I remember them reading. And the first thing they teach is not to cite sources that contradict your argument. But here goes. This is an item-centric game. You will be expected to have multiple sets of equipment and switch between them as the situation dictates. All defensive fighters will have equivalent access to armor. They all tank with the whole platemail thing. So while it's important to the game, if you're a tank you'll have armor just like every other tank. I suspect there will be class specific versions though. Something about how I should be able to tell the difference between class jsut by looking at them. Witty comeback. Logical dispute. And finally; it doesn't matter, you're going to be a tank.

Sometimes you ask a question about Vanguard hoping someone will point out a new source. We are after all working on the very first Vanguard grind -- information hunting ;P. It seems to have a group bonus btw

Comming from a good friend who has the beta. he said, even from the begging after he selected his character and went through the hundreds of things for customizing your toon. His character wasnt "naked" like in WoW or eq when you start off, but you could DEF. tell he was pally. I belive like what C said, There def. will be class/race specific amour/weapons/ items? This game is to be so detailed that you can tell where, and what a person is when they walk up to you, with out even asking. Damn this game for being so good.......
