The armor says it all!
I don't know about you guys ( actually I do, but it was a good way to start the sentence ), but I really hope that end game armor is very distinctive. Nothing quite says, " I tank giants and dragons for breakfast! " like armor that looks intimidating. Tanks should look impressive by the time they graduate into the higher ranks, don't you agree?
Sure at lower levels we start off with leather or chain that's rotted or rusted, not very impressive. We live with it though. Then that day comes that we graduate to plate armor (rusty) and boy do we feel some pride. Pair it with a nice two handed weapon and we feel the part even more. At some point though, we need to see our armor progress in the " Ooo Ahh" factor as well as our levels and skills. Plain unadorned armor just doesn't cut it anymore. The armor should look menacing and show that we've put some effort into it. So here's hoping for armor that has spikes, etching, inlays, runes, and you name it. After all, the weapon isn't the only thing that should shine right? Ellestil |

according to what I've read, most of the screenies we've seen so far is what the "lowbie" armor looks like, say around lvl 10-20 or so. If this is the case, I would imagine the higher level armors looking *quite* elaborate and pretty, espessially considering the detail they're puttting in the game.
Getting to first wear plate in wow was a fun time, getting "buffer" looking and such. Kinda hope for something of the same in VG I suppose, though understandable if they have us wearing plate straight off. Would be interesting if they had more "grades" of armor than just cloth, leather, chain, plate. how about field plate, full plate and heavy plate? Looks arn't super important to me, but if the stats are about the same, and one looks cooler...well Ill take the good one. Though if its Ugly as Sin but has uber stats, then I'll still wear it. ![]()

I'm pretty ok with simple armor. I don't need skulls, etchings, random glowing objects, fire, lightning, ice, spikes, evil myst comming from my gear. As long as it looks like armor I like it and I find the more stuff thrown on to it, the less it looks like armor.

Agreed ^
I tend to agree with "endgame" or high level armor needing to look good. It isn't so much about the stats in every case anyway. Even seeing ornamental sets that we could wear around town and such would be impressive and far more realistic. Make no mistake, generally those really fancy suits were not made to fight in, but rather, to well... look fancy in.

Well one issue that happens alot in new games is, the high end armor r not alot elaborate, they try to keep it simple and neat with a still kinda "unique" look.
They game progresses and the bright yellow and purple armor with all kind of design come out of the woodwork and u start to look like a walking rainbow with the kind of armor that would poke your eyes out just by lifting an arm... Atm im convinced we dont have to worry with the clown plate, and im hopefull we never go to that path... |

From what i've seen of the screenshots the low level armour seems slim and fits the person form and expands as you level up.
Also i've read that the armour is designed to be more functional than just pure fantasy and anything that is over the top has a good reason for it :? I love how some of the armour in screenshots have this overly padded look in parts as if that part of the armour will be used to deflect weapon strikes. Also the more colourful armour seems to be lending its styles from the old colour schemes that were displayed in medival times by knights matching their coat of arms. |
