PMed that thing to you...and I have another idea...what if you could sign an nda to get the projected release date from sigil?
Then have forum members pm their guesses (month, day, hour, minute, and second)

Then, the one thats closest to the actual release date wins the next beta key. And an incentive for older members that are not in but wish to be in beta, for each level or two you are, you get an extra guess!

If sigil didnt like this (disclosing the approx, release date to you) possibly you could submit entries to them and have them tell you who won?

I got the idea from this contest involving a pole in alaska. (no, its not the north pole)

Unfortunatly (or fortunatly, depending on your outlook), Sigil doesn't have an "exact" date. "Winter" is about as close as it's going to get, for now, and that goes thru next March.

Brad and the others have all stated that it will be out when it's done, so don't think we can do this, for a beta slot!

How about a contest on general knowledge of all the MMORPG's made to date as to finer details about things found in all of them.

A scavenger hunt or general knowledge contest is possible, they just take alot of preparation on our part. Aredhel is correct on the release date one.

mmm...octobers contest....make it something long and hard...like daily questions and the person that submits them all and gets the most right wins...ties are deternimed by an essay question possibly?

This would be very hard to organise, but you could have people submitting ideas for questions to you that you pick. The bonus there is that if youre question is picked, you know the answer...its also motivation to make the question as hard as possible.
Now yes, my ideas (as always ) have flaws, and this could use some revision proibably...but like I said...its an idea.

How about putting together a fan art competition whoever can make the best fan art has a chance of it being used for the box art of the actual pc case when people buy it in stores? Winner gets the beta slot and a chance to have their image on the box art?

Sigil ran an officially sanctioned contest just like that except the winner (Foxeye) will have her art displayed in a prominent location in the game itself. Unfortunately two things keep us from doing another contest as you suggest. The first is the box art has already been done by Donato and the second reason is because we're just a fansite so we dont have any sway over what the commercial game will look like.
