Question regarding Vanguard Build 1792 Patch Notes 3/26/2007 – TEST SERVER

GAMEPLAY NOTES
- Fix for DoTs not working in PvP

Just wondering if you can clarify for us if this means DOT's will actually work in pvp or simply be returned to their broken non working although doing damage state they have been stuck in since release?

I.E. will we get kill credit for the dot's or still need to /bug them with every cast?

tell you what - I'll get on test tonight with one of my toons, strong arm my BF into logging too and I'll test for you.

In my experience, when a QA team lists something as "fixed" they mean it is *fixed* otherwise it is listed as a "partial patch"

Tested the following classes:

Psionocist, Bloodmage, Cleric, Shaman, Sorcerer (do not have a necromancer nor a druid on test and the BF created two characters to help me test and I was not going to push my luck on asking him to make a third- sorry)
  • All DoT's hit and did damage.
  • The numbers appeared over the target as damage was being done, the damage was recorded appropriately in the combat tab of the target and the caster
  • At the end of combat the message appeared that the winner had defeated the loser (and we had the killing blow be with the DoT)

please know this was a quick and dirty test. Not thorough. If I wanted to be thorough I would be testing every race/DoT class combination* and at least one DoT from each line. I don't have characters of appropriate level to carry out a thorough test but I'm sure Sigil has done this already


*not that I expect <enter caster class here> of one race to have problems with DoT's that another race does not have - but stranger things have caused bugs.

Hope this helps. If there were other concerns that this quick and dirty test did not answer, let me know by tomorrow (Tuesday March 27th) My guinea pig (read BF) is going out of town (to come and see me) for two weeks and I only have one compy

that is good news now to see if it carries over to the FFA rule set. Before on the non FFA server they would give the killing blow although they have never worked on the FFA.

did they push the patch to live? I haven't read live patch notes but I'm in my own little maelstrom here at work.

I don't have someone to test against for almost the next two weeks(unless I can push my compy to dual log Vanguard and I don't think it is beefy enough for that)

Aye they patched it to the live servers today. Tested it out before I took my lunch break.

It is nice that they are doing damage now, just wish that they could actually fix it once and for all.

I'm sorry Crotalus. Since I'm not a normal PvP'er I was just testing that the DoT's did damage and the messages where there etc etc.

I think payout/rewards are so second nature to PvP'ers that they just expect them to be there and non-PvP'ers don't think to expect them

That's a blind spot for me. Sorry. Next time I test something for you, I'll know to expect that too
