presence building, combat odss, and other sundry stuff
and forgive me if this ground has been covered, I looked but sometimes ya just miss stuff.
has anyone figured out/know if your presence with the various factions (soldiers, domestic etc) is random or cummalitive..meaning, if you have X parlay's with only soldiers you'll get a +1 to your soldier presence...or is just the luck of the draw. and since I cannot figure it out (my math teach would be so ashamed) has anyone figured out diplo-level vrs. oppenent's skill level (25, 50, 75, 100 etc) so when you are X level you can parlay with oppoenents X skill level. and remember within every heart of a diplomat is a stone cold killer who is squimish. ..that and some green bobbly bits from too much fried foods. |

Re: presence building, combat odss, and other sundry stuff
It seems to be about 7 or 8 parleys to increase faction. So successfully parley with 8 Soldiers, and you get 1 Soldier Presence. Offhand, I'm not sure if a failure breaks the chain.
As far as skill goes, I'm not sure. When I was just skill 40 I could parley (and usually lose) against skill 100 NPCs, and then when I was skill 75 there were some skill 125 NPCs I could parley with and some still told me I wasn't skilled enough. So I'm a bit confused there.

49 is the magic number. If you are 50 or more below the NPC you cannot parley them.
As for raising presence, info on VGTact has it as the longer you keep the marker on your side during your parleys the faster your presence will go up. |

Actually from what I have seen on numerous posts on Vgtact. Its the amount of Influence points you allow your oppenent to win. So keeping the bar on your side is kinda right but its more about lowering the amount of points they score. The less they do the quicker you will gain presence points. I think I recall one poster saying by beating them and only allowing 1 or no points by an equally skilled NPC he was able to gain a presence point every 5-7 parlays. On ones that he was just edging out it would take about 20 parlays to gain a point. Just "hersay" and I have never personally tested it but it does feel about right. |

Re: presence building, combat odss, and other sundry stuff
Do a search on vgtact for posts by Aruspex. Basically each time you win a parley you earn a small amount toward your next skill point. You also earn a small amount toward your next presence point with that station.
So if you win a parley against a soldier, your soldier presence goes up and your diplomacy skills goes up. You may not see it because you haven't moved them far enough yet to earn a point, but they are moving. It shouldn't take more than 12 successful parleys against the same station to earn a point of presence. If it takes you more than 12 wins to get a point of presence then please post the details of which NPCs you are parleying with, in which city, and what station and levels they are in this thread: http://www.vgtact.com/showthread.php?t=2344 Also, if you by chance come across an NPC that gives you presence in the wrong station, or an NPC/Conversation Type that gives the wrong Prestige, please note that in the bug forum over at vgtact. |

Re: presence building, combat odss, and other sundry stuff
My theory on leveling up diplo skill is based on the difference in level between you and the NPC. Here are two cases to look at.
150 vs 150 soldier NPC took 16 parleys to level up one diplo skill point. 151 vs 175 soldier NPC took 12 parleys. I'll post my results for 152 vs 200 soldier NPC later today. It also seems you get two presence pts per one diplo point. |

Re: presence building, combat odss, and other sundry stuff
Well, I couldn't find a level 200 soldier in Mekalia. I know they are there, but I can't find the right place. Here are a couple more examples to further support my theory:
153 vs 175 13 parleys for a skill increase in diplomacy with a gain in soldier presence every 5th parley. 154 vs 175 13 parleys for a skill increase in diplomacy with a gain in soldier presence every 5th parley. Previously, at level 150 and 151, it was taking 12 parleys. If anyone knows where the level 200 Constables are located in Mekalia, I'd really like to see what difference it makes going up against them. My bet is it would take around 10 or 11 parleys at my current level. |

Re: presence building, combat odss, and other sundry stuff
my data:
skill level 124 vrs 100 diplo level 1 diplo skill up every 15-19 rounds, 1 presence skillup every 6-7 rounds skill level 124 vrs 50 diplo level 1 diplo skillup like every 50 rounds 1 presence skillup every 6-8 rounds skill level 124 vrs 125 diplo level, 1 diplo skillup every 7-9 rounds, 1 presence skillup every 5-8 rounds. all three are *basically* allowing only 3-4 points to be scored by the other side during each parley |
