So whats the point...
of the Diplomatic Prestige faction? Do we get anything. Hitting 1000 Prestige faction nets you what exactly?
I think that probably my pet peeve about Diplo right now. So much work for so little. Granted, we get a horse, but thats it. We get: Temporary City buffs a slow horse (at first) 12 different pieces of information (more at higher levels) the need for presence require mulitple sets of clothing Faction that doesn't mean anything. So, what do people do regarding this? How are they storing they're information? I leveled up to 100 Diplo but had to stop. I literally ran out of room. Re: So whats the point...
Draygin suggested a good idea.. a diplo "notebook"
I suggest they gve diplo's 'dual wield' and create special off-hand notebooks, bags, whatever to hold the many many pages of notes. Alternatively, if you know you have to do alot of quick change ;P you could carry a garment bag instead. The one only holds info the other diplo clothes. If the devs didn't find it unbalancing, a equippable 'bag' that can hold notes and diplo clothes only would rock. I know my CE came with a crafter cloak that is rightclickable as a bag for crafting utils only.

Re: So whats the point...
and exactly what does raiding the deepest, uberest dungeon get you? a few pixles on the screen?
There is a school of thought about the journey. The diplo game is very much like checkers, very easy to learn but hard or impossible to ever truely master. Though with diplo right now, you can pretty much predict game #1324 based upon game #3 with the same race which might change with time. I treat diplo like a time-kill between groups, which is still much cooler than lounging around the mailbox/brokerage house/thotbot site/ where all there is to do is get into a verbal garbage match with the next idiot who speaks on channel. With any of the big long lasting games, you ride into any city during prime time and you'd see dozens of people doing nothing, some would flirt, some would fight, some would just sit in sullen silence while they awaited thier group to come online. there was a post a few days ago on another board about WoW players complaining about the learning curve in Vanguard, and the very slow pacing of leveling. The poster pointed out the game was about playing the game, not about showing your coolest neatest gear off to an audience. It is the difference between being a rock climber and a football player. If you are in it for the glory, you won't ever see the top of the mountain --though you may make interesting gull-feed at the bottom of the mountain. and in the end, like christian tv, or heavy metal video's, nobody is making anybody watch them, if you don't like something, the tv/computer comes with both an on AND off button, and in vanguard there is always something else to go do if you don't like diplomacy. |

My post was more of a 'I have all this stuff, what am I missing' type post. I'm not kidding when I said I ran out of room to store stuff and had to stop. |

Re: So whats the point...
What he's saying is a real concern, though. Once I get to max diplomacy and max out all the prestige factions, how is it going to contribute to my other spheres? Crafting sphere of course enhances both adventuring, harvesting, and diplomacy. Adventuring helps crafting, harvesting, and diplomacy as well. But, what are the benefits of Diplo going to be other than just getting more Diplo stuff?

Re: So whats the point...
well, as mentioned earlier it will enable you to do writs (you need 500 in an area to do them i think), and i believe you get them at embassies and pretty much require you to go talk to someone, some being in the town/city, some being in the wilderness, some being in other city/towns. In beta i know there was only one working (the dorf place, something cleft...) idk if its still in for live.
disclaimer: all of this came from my memory, some info maybe old and some terms might have been made up by me, all infos here presented should not be taken as fact w/o a reliable source to back me up :P |

*sniffle* you certainly took the wind out of that umbrage huh? *wipes nose* what next? popping kiddie balloons at the circus? cotton candy made out of fiber glass insulation? a pirahanna tank at chucky cheeze? but you are of course right, I did grab what you said out of context the proceeded to twist and turn it for my own ends....I should go into speech writing, or at least work for cosmo and write tests like "the ten top ways you can make your man regret he met you for the next 24 hours of his life" but my apologies for misconstruing your meaning, I'd like to say it won't happen again, but it's sometimes like a cat at a mousehole, the first thing that moves gets swatted at...which can be fun when stringing electrical wire. |
