Failed Newbie Diplomacy quest

Is there any way to reset the newbie Diplomacy quest? I failed the Thestran Diplomacy Meet the Thistles step and can not continue. The first 3 steps of this are not completed and steps 4 through 6 are. Thistle told me to go see/spy on Godfrey but Godfrey is not responding with a parley or a quest option.

I failed the first Parley with Thistle because I had no cards selected before hailing him and could not select any cards from my deck after hailing him. Hailing him put me in Parley mode with him with no cards selected to parley with.

Try cancelling the quest, then going back to the quest giver to get it back. It should let you start on that quest again. (you don't have to start the whole line over.

Also, as far as I've seen, failing a parley shouldn't fail the quest? Granted I haven't dabbled in diplo much at all since launch, but it used to be that if they kicked your backside on a parley you could just keep trying until you convinced them to see things your way. (Even though sometimes I really wished I could "convince" them with a sharp poke in the eye with my dagger :P)

I have failed to win a parley a few times, some of them just needed to get the right cards. After failing you can just go back to the guy and start again, no need to start again and it should not make you fail the quest or loose it. Has to hailing I don't have much experience, unlike others here, I have a tendency to click away

I found this happned sometimes as well with the parlays.

I suggest you walk away then come back later for some reason this seems to "reset" the NPC.

Happened to me a few times on the Gwella quest line in BC.

Ive been having the same problem. On the first try, I won the parlay and got the first part of the quest completed. On the second part-the interview-I hit a wrong button and exited out of the parlay. On re-attempt Mr. Thistle was unresonsive. After abandoning and restarting the quest-Mr. Thistle rewards the SECOND part of the quest and wont acknowlege the 1st part of the quest. I have abandoned and re-tried with 3 different characters, on a couple of different servers. Is this a bug? Ill try the walking away and resetting theory, but at this point I am VERY discouraged.

Paulmer, sometimes when you abandon a dip quest, the quest gets reset properly, but the parley doesn't. So say you have 2 parleys in the quest and you complete 1 of them, then abandon the quest. You then reaccept the quest and it will appear that the parley you did earlier is already complete.

Is that what you are seeing? If so, you should be able to do the 2nd parley (assuming they aren't in a set order). Completing that parley will "reset" the first parley, allowing you to do that one as well.

If you are still having problems, try posting in the bug forum over at vgtact. You can also try asking in the diplomacy channel ingame (/join dip).

What I am seeing is, that after abandoning and re-aquiring the quest, Mr. Thistle will only grant the second part of the quest without ever giving a chance to complete the first part of the quest. Once I win the parlay, the quest tracker shows the second part complete and the first part unfinished. Mr. Thistle then will not grant the first part of the quest. Im thinking this is a bug, since it has happened to me on different servers with different characters. I shall report it accordingly.
