Diplomacy Clothes

Currently, I've yet to see any diplomacy clothes other than the ones awarded in the getting started quests and various quests that can be picked up after you've started civic.

The problem, however, is that most of the quests you get once you've been let loose on your own require you to have presence in one or another Station of 35+. After grinding my civic diplomacy for days, while I have gotten my skill level to 75 I still haven't managed to get any Station above 15 (Including the clothes' bonuses). Noble is the exception since they gave me a +11 Noble staff from the civic introduction (Thestran Human), but I've yet to run across a quest needing that Station. At this rate, I'll be at 125 skill before I can even do some of the 50 skill quests. And yes I've been diplo'ing with NPCs of the same Station instead of picking random ones.

It seems like clothes are the only realistic way to get Presence (I've seen some quests require 200+ of some Station). Turning in information seems to net me with a bunch of little prestigious baubles and no actual clothes. So my question is, are there other ways to get diplomacy clothes? Or do I pretty much have to suck it up and grind for weeks just to do a very simple skill lvl 50 quest?

Different types of information give different rewards. Sounds like you are handing in lower infos. Try some higher level or different types of civic parleys for different information types and grades. With a good strat and a weak opponent (something you have rebuts for), you should be able to win 100 skill parleys and get some better rewards.

Hmm, I have yet to actually find a decent way to use Rebuts.

But I suppose I shall go on if there's the possibility to pick up some clothes from all this. So far I've just been turning in Rumors and Hearsay (And hordes of it, heh), I guess I need the Facts and Evidence to get the decent stuff?

Re: Diplomacy Clothes

Rumors and Hearsay of what? If its Blackmail, that tends to give the most items I believe. Arcana, Plots and Tends give more wearable gear. This is at least true for the crude and significant grades. You will find different brokers in different towns. Assuming you have been getting blackmails, try doing something other than gossip parleys. The more you diversify the better chance you will get some combinations of gear that will give you the presence you need to do some of the lower skill quests (25-50), and then you are on your way.

You also gain presence with a station by parleying with that station's members, this is granted in 1 point increments and adds to your base (naked) presence.

Be prepared to get ALOT of different clothing and make sure you have space in inventory. Between all the scraps of paper and clothes you will have space management issue. Well at least until the devs get us a better way to store scraps of paper. Coming Soontm

Seems to be very slow, however. Got 4 points in about 2 hours of parley against NPCs I don't fail on (Incite/Interview vs. Guards). I can only defeat Incite/Interview vs. Guards and Crafters. I can beat the Academics, too, but currently they are bugged and instead of recieving a possible skill-up and piece of information, they just raise/lower the different levers twice.
