Low-end Diplomacy
Does anyone else find the beginning diplomacy missions to be extremely hard to win? Just spent two hours trying different card combos, on a quest my 1st diplomacy npc gave me, and I just gave up. I think I'll come back and pickup diplomacy later, when its tweaked a bit =X

Re: Low-end Diplomacy
I have only recently started playing but my very first challenge in diplomacy went very smoothly, it was a bit long but at the end I made it. Not sure if you refer to the very first quest or someother later... Anyway, so far so good. By the way I am playing a Kurashasa.

Re: Low-end Diplomacy
I just went through the gnome Diplo series and it was pretty good. Good story and the NPC's were just enough to be hard without being frustrating.
If you let us know what race/NPC you're having a problem with, maybe someone here will have an idea for you. |

Re: Low-end Diplomacy
Aegis, try to specify more so the experienced diplomats here can help you. Where exactly did you start out? All the starter lines are different apart from the beginning tutorial which is impossible to lose.

Re: Low-end Diplomacy
I found 2 NPCs very hard in Vara line. One of them others didn't but I did ;P then later found another to be hard in horse part I think.
In DE line, I got 'stuck' only one time for a decent number of tries very late in the series but I knew they were beatable from my Vara experience and I finally recognized the patterns. The trick is to look at their cards and to see if when you change your deck they do as well - there is usually a trick involving being all spread out or taking all FAST refresh vs the guy with no cost cards or looking at what his cards cost him to deny him them in the few 'hard' ones that he actually spends on his cards. Ya, so let us know what race/class (class not as important but it can help)

Re: Low-end Diplomacy
the beginning diplomacy can be hard until you see the pattern and figure out a way to beat it. (then you end up beating yourself over the head b/c it turned out to be alot easier then you thought).
after the very beginning tutorial (that you cannot lose on) I lost my very first 2 parlay's. But it' a learning stage and you really don't lose much if you fail those parlays. (I even lost some of the parlay's with the civic diplomacy instructor, now THAT was embarrasing) I have found that the best thing to do if you cannot beat a parlay is to go into it expecting to lose and just watch what cards they play. Like was said above, watch what expressions they use, and watch what expressions they give you. If they play alot of flattery (yellow) try and use cards that do not give them that. (sometimes it's hard depending on your starting race and class). It will get easier as you win more and you start learning what to look for. I think it took me about 2 or 3 days to figure out the horse diplomacy winning deck, though when I finally figured it out I won with flying colors. |

Re: Low-end Diplomacy
beginning diplomacy really wasnt a problem for me. yeah, it took some getting use to, but what i had problems with were lvl50+. I would love for there to be high-end more casual diplomacy. Maybe its just me?

Re: Low-end Diplomacy
My key to winning so far on the little low end diplomacy that I've done is to do alot of "listen" when the marker is on my side. It denys them any points they can then use against me.

Re: Low-end Diplomacy
I got a quest from the diplomacy trainer right outside the east side of khal, to go talk to some soldiers about whether they should keep spoils from merchants that went running.
And the listen strat doesn't work, because the npc has cards that gives himself a point in everything without even using anything himself. Wow, I need a card like that.
