Re: How Diplomacy Works
From what I understand, all the spheres will work in a sort of 'combat' manner like this.
Adventuring, you will be fighting the mob with combat tecniques. Harvesting, you will be fighting the tree, or rock, or whatever. Diplomacy is fighting the conversation. Crafting is fighting the crafting table. I should put fighting in quotes, I guess. I think this is how it works, anyway. Everything I recall reading has pointed in this direction. It sounds exciting to me! I want to parlay, to fight with words instead of swords. but then, I've always been a quester and healer, I have to stop to talk to every new NPC I come across. It seems Vanguard will finally be the game where this interest of mine will be rewarded a lot. |

Re: How Diplomacy Works
I would bet they can acquire ranks as they rise through the diplomacy ranks. I wouldnt be surprised to see mayors running around. Kings might be outside the scope of the diplomacy system though. Seems like they would just wield too much power for any one player, expect myself of course.

Don't dash my dreams of being king
![]() And I was going to raise up this grand army... and set out on this crusade... I was drawing maps and everything. Anyways... you are probably right. King may be a bit outside the scope of diplomacy/city running... |

Re: How Diplomacy Works
My guess would be your advancement in sociaty would take the form of a series of diplomacy quests aimed at replacing the current NPC or other player that currently holds the post. You could become a king if you were able to depose them using your diplomacy skills, it would require many steps up the social ladder to get close enough to a king.

Re: How Diplomacy Works
While we don't know much about the diplomacy sphere at this point I think it is very likely that your chosen race and adventuring profession might also have some effect on how character's diplomacy sphere is affected and some of the choices they make. While all three spheres are separte they are all entwined within that character and it would make sense if some of there other choices affect some of the choices they can make in regards to diplomacy. Sure while being a Dark Elf dread knight will have it's benefits it is very likely that you will also have some penalties in certain areas based on general perception of your character. While it is possible for it to not be like that I think that it is more likely that it will be for flavor purposes.
