Re: Gaming Roots
Well I started playing games on a TRS-80. My first games ever that I can recall were Pyramid a text adventure game loaded via tape drive and Zaxxon loaded via 5.25" floppy. After that I moved onto my dads Tandy 1000SX and played the gold box TSR games which pretty much sealed my doom. During the same time I played intellivision (atari knockoff), nintendo (Zeldas), SNES, Genesis (Phantasy Stars), Sega-CD (Lunars). Once I moved out and got my own PC I played games like Heros of Might & Magic and Civilization but once I experienced multiplayer online gaming in a couple MUDs, single player games died for me. At that point I dove into every RTS game you can name and most of the FPS games to date including Warcraft, Starcraft, Age of Empires, Doom, Quake 1/2 & Marathon.
They all paled in comparison when I got a chance to beta and then play Ultima Online. At release however that game was extremely laggy, buggy and had tons of gankers who took advantage of that lag and bugginess. That pushed me to try out Everquest Beta 3 and I was pretty much hooked. I played EQ from Beta 3 till Nov 2004 when EQ2 released. Played EQ2 six months and migrated with my guild to WoW last May. Im in WoW and will likely stay there till Vanguard releases. During my Everquest time I also played AC, DAoC and SWG briefly just to name a few.
