I contacted Evga a while ago to be sure my 350w could handle my new series 7 card. (It handled the 6800 GT just fine.) They stated that as long as I had 15a or more on the v12 line I was covered. The 6s and 7s are very close in power draw, so if you could check that we should be able to know.

But, again, I would think that unless you are having a massive draw on power it should still boot and then warn you that you are low on power. Just beeping and such would be more indicative of another kind of problem; something like the PSU doesn't like how you've chained devices. You didn’t plug one of those fans into anything else did ya? I find fans tend to prevent boot unless they are on their own lines.
