I too like the smaller raid groups. It just seems a lot more fun and rewarding to me. My answer is somewhat biased though. If the design decision is for smaller raids, it would force the need for additional development of content to relieve the pressure on raid group competition for bosses.

It would be horrible to see ten smaller raid groups camping for a "golden" instead of two or three large groups.
