Re: Dangers of harvesting
I think this ties into a poorly-managed aspect of WoW. I played on Arthas (PvP) after game release, and was one of the first 60's around. Even so, I still loathed farming mines. You'd think, being one of the first 60's around, you'd have it easy. Nope. Those foreign farmers are ruthless. The amount of time I put in didn't bother me so much. I spent a 60+ hours trying to get 20 crystals of some sort that only came from Rich Thorium veins. These veins were very small in number, about 6 spawn points in a map, with respawn timers anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. Considering the epic item I had crafted afterward, the time put in was justification for the quality of the item. What really peeved me was how boring and nonchalant it was. Wake-up, run circles around Burning Steppes (I think, its been a good year since I played) for 10 hours with a lunch and dinner break, rinse and repeat. The event aspect of harvesting brings about a welcome reprieve from the absolutely drudging task that was in WoW.
Basically, I <3 Sigil.
