The only downside I can see to this approach is the farmer problem. If resources are in certain spots within mob-infested areas then you can bet the farmers will likely camp them 24/7. The more rare/difficult to obtain an item in the world is, the more valuable it is, and consequently the more likely that farmers will camp it.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the concepts behind this game and I think it's going to make for an exciting RP experience. I just pray that measures are implemented to prevent the more commercially inclined users (I'm not giving them the honor of calling them 'players') from defeating the purpose.
