I agree with you on most of the things, but I do have 2 things to say.

I am level 40+ DRK. My friend is level 40+ Warrior. We both wear full Wardship of Sleeping Moon armor sets with a few exceptions, mirroring gear sort of because we went through a lot of this stuff together. Our melee mitigation in defensive stance is 42% buffless (Keep in mind I got 10% def stance and he got 15%). With buffs from 3 healers and a druid I have seen my own mitigation shoot above 60%.

1) When grouping with my friend warrior, I am usually taking up the role of a DPS/Debuff/ContainHorriblePulls/HelpWithPullsByStunMezingAMob kind of tank.

2) If I am with that same friend warrior, and we get a tough named, I hit my DCMagicButton and I pass him in terms of tanking aggro dmg and mitigation. INSTANTLY. After I get my aggro chain off and a defensive chain off, there is nothing he can do short of rescues to get aggro off of me.

So All in All, we do get some utility in terms of debuffing helping with pulls, our main one is actually snare - i got over 300 Conjuration and it is unresistable pretty much, but it was a pain to get there. Paladins get more utility though, no question about it.

P.S. whomever thinks we are in a bad shape as a class.... needs to reevaluate their position, and I can suggest how. Get a bard in your group, and go competing with solo content. DRK is one of the better classes out there in terms of soloing ability. And when you get Cull, you just own 3 dot mobs in multiples. Group wise, we do lag behind paladin on mitigation and utility, but we are STRONGLY comparable to warrior with miti, we are over the war in utility. And most importantly we are the most self sufficient tanks out of the 3. Yeah pals get heals... can they use them while tanking with their 6-10 second cast times? hell no, they get interrupted or in that time some clothie dies. And they don't have the mana pools to backup heals either.

P.S2: With comparable gear:
miti pre DC5: pal > war = drk
miti post DC5: pal=drk > war
aggro pre DC5: war > drk > pal
aggro post DC5: drk > war > pal
dmg pre DC5: war > drk > pal
dmg post DC5: drk >= war >>> pal
util solo pre DC5: drk > pal > war
util solo post DC5: drk >>> pal > war
util grp pre/postDC5: pal > drk > war

PS3: it is player skill that allows people to move between "=" and ">" signs with their class, but playing as your regular average skilled tank does, that is the table you are looking at. DRK is a different class at DC5, no discussion about it. You can see and anyone will confirm I am sure that as DC moves us, DRK progresses towards a stable solid all around tank very swiftly. the real challenge in groups is how do you raise your DC while tanking and not losing aggro. And I can tell you, there is no set scenario, there are groups where I ask people to give me 10 seconds on a mob, there are grps where I cast DC spells between VSs, and there are groups where we flat out kill stuff without DC rising above DC2, and I just use InstaDCButton on a named once in a while.

Thx for reading.
