played a bard to 32 in beta. as far as im concerned, bard is the best puller in game. Monk splitting is just too time consuming and FD fails so much. so aside from exploiting mob leashes the bard is the way to go. no bard? get a psi for CC. no psi? other classes can hold a single mob reasonably well as mentioned above. a warrior can hold agro on multiple pulls better than any other class but thats not saying too much. I have found that you can get by on 3+ pulls if you have above avg dps. 3 or less is trivial with healing as long as they are <=3dot.
on multiples, i like to pull with infuriating shot and immediately switch to a different NPC. I find this give you a little more leeway. I always explain what I do to the grp im in so they know to reassist accordingly.
