1) Weapon Skills. First of all, what exactly do these do. What's the difference between the 2 hand slashing set of skill vs the great axe set of skill (for example). I'm assuming that the actual skill is some sort of chance to hit an opponent? Stacking on top of this, is it worth my time to try to keep multiple skills maxed out, just use the best weapon available, or keep your best 2h / 1h shield combos maxed?

2) Stat Points. Normally I go for massive HP and any sort of mitigation type of skills/stats in games (lowering damage, not dodge, parry, etc. I prefer constant low damage to prevent spikes). Anyhow, Constitution seems relatively useless at 3HP per point and 1 resist per 6ish points? I guess I'm thinking 4str, 4dex, and 2 cons. Being a DE I don't have much problem with my mana pool, and I guess the 2 int (1 racial 1 for all stats) per level will be enough to add a decent amount of hate to torture.

I know I'm missing a few questions in here, I'll add them in later! Thanks in advance!
I'm also DRK and I have had a static group pretty much from day one. I would suggest that even with Con's low return in the beggining it pays off in the end.

I go 4dex/4str/2con myself. ATM im 47 and last I checked I'm getting 4 HP per Con',which can really add up. I can't tell you how many times I have had little to no visible life before that heal hit me

As far sa weapon skills to the best of my knowledge the base ability such as 1hand slashing or 2 hand slashing is what modifies your actual chance to hit the mob. And the weapon type such as Longsword or Greatsword modifies your damage.

Unless you want to spend a couple days once your level 40 or so catching up your skills in areas you would like to use I'd suggest you stick with what you like the most (Greataxe for me) but make sure you also max out your 1hand slash as well each level as to not fall too far behind.

My guess is that in the end we will all pretty much be using both. Sword and shiled on the stuff that simply demands it. And 2handers on the easier content.

Currently I have yet to need a Shield. The times I have died there was no way a shield would have saved me.

But in the end it is not a HUGE swing in either dirction so if you realy like one over the other I would suggest you use it. Just do't neglect other things that intrest you along the way or you will be spending a few days catching them up.
