2hs all the time. Never had a problem tanking, ever. I get the +10 bonus to weapons as a human and I have a cloak that gives me +37 to 2hs.

I have a mace and shield in a bag, but never use it. Mostly because my skill in mace is not on level, and all I see are miss, miss, miss, miss, hit, repeat. They need to make weapon skills move up faster.
