I've been experimenting with this ability today while in the duo and DPS roles and I have to say I really like it - as long as you're backpedalling you can control the distance you jump. It's not 100% but I am able to land infront of the mob and hit it with my finisher.
I also experimented briefly with it in the MT role - it works but I am not sure I'd use it when things get busy.
