Take away the wings on the armor, and make the edges a bit less "smooth", and I would wear it.
Basically, for me - I may be one of the only Dreadknights planning on role-playing a 'good guy'. what makes it even more bizarre is that I am launching an Orc. So the stigma may be hard to overcome, but I plan on having a good time with it.
To me, I would see my Dreadknight in mostly dark colors. Black, Dark Grey, Dark Blue, even a decent shade of purple...but that's stretching the envelope. I'm not sure if I want to toggle on my cape either.
I want to go away from a lot of stereo-types though, and a Dreadknight I create will focus on maces and mauls as opposed to axes and slicing weapons.
I may be a bit more into RP than a lot of you guys, so I'll spare you the details, but while *I* don't think of Batman when I'm playing Dreadknight...I understand how others could view it as such while watching. I think mor along the lines of Minotaur honor, and while I don't know anything about Star Trek - I have been told, I put "klingon" in my character...(I never liked Star Trek, hopefully I'm not flogged and beaten for saying it, but I do know what a klingon is, and it seems to be an ok comparison to what I have in my head)
