I like those sorts of weapon bonuses. The race with an axe bonus will be "better" for the guy who happens to like using axes, but another player who prefers maces won't see that race as anything special and may prefer some other race. This creates a situation where the answer to the question "Which race is best?" becomes "It depends on what you like doing". That's a good thing.
Inkling--I hate to say this, but I hope to see you disappointed (I mean it in the nicest possible way). The stated goal of class interchangeability within an archtype for most encounters is one of a handful of reasons I'm so interested in Vanguard, and not the competition. It's actually the single most important feature to me. Other major reasons I'm interested are the Fellowship system, the focus on grouping, and the focus AWAY from PvP.
