Likewise, I always pick the race I want to be and any racial advantages are a bonus. I don't expect Vanguard to have the racial bonuses of Everquest simply because, as noted, the powergamers will take the path of least resistance.
Of course, the problem with that approach is a loss of racial diversity. It's going to be interesting to see what Vanguard does to make the races distinct...
