Re: Leaps and bounds ahead, Server mergers to occur, Customer satisfaction on Converg

If they used Brad's original idea of all characters having a name made up of both a first and last name that was unique across all servers the names wouldn't even be an issue, but the whiners got their way. The housing plots however will be the big issue. There is a lot more to consider than just individual players. It is a fact that some guilds have built their houses together as some kind of guild city and forcing them to move would destroy that.

Also if the do merges they should avoid doing what they did with "EverQuest" where they dumped the population into the other server. This created problems where have the population were "outsiders" who were "invading" the server. They need to have entirely new servers with entirely new names to make it fair for everone. We don't want to create a situation where half the people essentially lost the lottery and now going to get screwed for it. These kind of issues that appeared in "EverQuest" after they merged the servers is when I finally decided it was time to move on. Having people quit "Vanguard: Saga of Heroes" due to sloppy server merges would probably be the death nell for this game.

Honestly I am not even sure the server merges are needed. It isn't nearly as hard to find a group as some people claim it is. You can't expect to log on and be in a group. You have to be sociable and make friends and be available. Don't try to make people do what you want to do. Get in a group and do what the group wants to do. Honestly the server merges seem like a knee-jerk reaction to the vocal minority who is whining about not being able to find groups due to their social ineptness.

They should have poll that appears as players log in to the game to see how many people actually feel that the server merges are necessary instead of listening the vocal minority who post on internet forums many of whom claimed to have quit the game a long time ago.
