I recall Asquinol saying that test does not support the VG players set up. Could trying to access an "illegal" command be doing it?

Not saying that it should not fail more gracefully than a CTD, but if the problem is that "/portrait yes" is not supported on test and is fully supported in live, what you have here is what some companies call a "Wontfix" bug.

In other words, it's intended functionality that the "/portrait yes" command does not work on the test enviro and it is too low a priority to bother putting an error code in there that will just have to be stripped out of live. It's easier to tell the test community "Don't *do* that!"
