I am not sure I see why the level cap of 50 and leveling rate is a problem. If it takes X months to get to level 50 while enjoying a great deal of content, what benefit is there to raising the cap to 60 or 70 and speeding up the leveling (and re-leveling the high level content to match and redoing the stats on all the high level drop and adding another tier or two to crafted equipment) so players still get the cap in X months.
This game is in for the long haul. The cap will rise slowly over the years as new content is added (this is the EQ model).
I think the whole idea is that, for the average player, gaining levels is slow enough that the cap on levels or other forms of character development stays ahead of them. The average character should level slowly enough that there is always somewhere to grow.
Yes, there will always be the hard core types that race to the cap and grind raids and dungeons for the best equipment, but that is, for them, its own reward. Games can never keep ahead of them.
