1) Necro, Shaman, and I think Ranger can tame one.
2) Solo 1-10, then a mix of solo and group quests. This isn't a pure solo game.
3) Racial abilities on class, no, except halfling warriors get a different racial skill than any other halfling choice. Your class can depend on race, and at level 10+ each race has their own restrictions and auto-boots per level. You get stat points every 1/5 of a level, as well.
4) Your choice, some mobs give great XP while others are not so hot. Quests do give nice XP though, if you do them at the right time for your level.
