Re: InGame Naming Policy
I don't agree with their naming policy. How can they use these criteria to tell you what's acceptable? What is recognizable media to one person may be completely foreign to another.
As a player, who am I tell to another that "your name is ruining my gaming experience"? Strict rules on a roleplaying server, however, makes total sense. If you want to be "immersed" in the game then play a roleplaying server; that is what they're for, immersion.
Also, in my personal experience, GMs have a whole boatload of other problems to worry about other than the naming policy. Missing tombstones? Falling into an endless loop of falling through the world, teleporting out, and falling back through (the /stuck yes command just precipitates the loop)? There are far more important things to worry about than "immersion breaking names".
The GMs should also be MUCH better about answering inquiries to bans and/or suspensions. My friend had an "inapproriate name" (which is still up for debate) and was suspended for three days. Now, on day SIX, customer service has only sent him ONE e-mail, three days after he sent it. They said "your account is under investigation, we'll notify you later". Helpful, yet not.
There are a world of other problems GMs should be dealing with other than a witch hunt for inapproriate names
