I am also having a similiar problem as the original poster. Right outside Halagard I spoke to the Harvester outfitter. He told me about harvesting, yadda yadda yadda, then gave me a rusty axe and a simple quest. Cut down some pine saplings. Did that. Then he asked me to cut down more and make some timber. Did that. Then he told me to pick a primary, and secondary, did that.

Now nothing is happening. My lumberjacking is at a measley 27, and no matter how many pine saplings I chop, it doesnt go up. I've tried reading the book but I just get the you dont meet the required prerequisites message.

Perhaps this evening I will try and reset the primary skill. Then go back to lumberjacking and see if that breaks the rut(bug) I'm in. Though if anyone see's this post and realizes that I'm just doing something wrong. Please, let me know. This is my favored site, but even after searching thru 3 other VG sites, still no good guides out there on harvesting.
