Go Start -> run -> type cmd -> type "sfc /scannow" (without the quotes) and hit enter. It may ask for your Windows CD if it finds a system file that needs replacing so have it handy. Oh and "sfc" = System File Checker, it basically checks to make sure your Windows system files are ok and not corrupted/missing and such.
