Well, this is weird. I would probably boot with my XP disk and run a repair before I tried other things (it shouldn't hurt any other files, but if you have something really special that you'd hate to lose, it'd be good to back that up).
I can't imagine how this would be a ram thing. You can run
memtest or try taking one stick out (assuming you have more than one) to see if you get more or fewer errors, then swapping them, if you do want to check this.
