What sort of Armour attribute enhancements should I look for, strength and hit points?
It so much depends on the way you want to play. Int and Wis help you perceive what is going on in combat, allowing you to react to it; however is that more useful than more constant damage or more criticals?

One of the nice features of attributes is that as you level, you also earn refund points that allow you to remove manually allocated points from an attribute, making them available to be spent elsewhere. What this implies is that you can't ruin a character through choosing the "wrong" attributes and can play with various configurations over time.

All that said, I have no problem with your strategy, it is probably going to be a popular one.

Personally, I plan to keep my attributes fairly balanced for my monk and see how that goes. I may emphasize dex and, to a lesser extent, vitality as a test to see if I get to do a lot more chains and specials (based on higher crit rate and regen, plus I am a sucker for run speed bonuses).
