So far over the past year I've been to acouple different sessions where Microsoft was trying to show off Vista. At both sessions the desktop widgets were showing the computer using 30% at idle. 30% of the 4 GBs of RAM that these laptops had installed. Granted I cannot testify on how many applications the guys were running in the background, but that still wasnt too impressing.
I think the OS will be for the niche market and wont catch on for another year or two, when the OS is more refined and computers start to catch up in power and price. It has a lot of cool bells and whistles, but nothing that really jumped out that would be that useful for everday users.
