Secondly, the guild system/tools in EQ2 is a good one imo. The guild tools in Vanguard reminds me too much of the ones in WoW. It needs improving imo. so I thought I would throw some suggestions out there, in the hope that Brad & Co will see it, and hopefully do something about it. I reckon guilds are even more important in Vanguard because it's a group-orientated game. So Vanguard deserves better guild tools.

I'd like to be able to change/add/remove/re-order ranks within the guild.

There should be a guild bank. Buying a house and using chests etc might be one way but really I feel we could use a proper guild bank with adjustable guild permissions for each rank. Maybe add this to the current banking system in Vanguard, or think of a different way to implement it. At the moment, it looks as though I have to go and buy a house and put chests in it to have some sort of a guild bank. Not very practical since housing plots are limited, and I think every guild should have the option to have their own guild bank without having to buy a house.

Just woke up so I can't think of anything else for the time being but I'm sure I'll come up with other ideas later on when I've tinkered around a bit.

I came from EQ2 and I have been thrown into a virtual dark age as far as guild controls from my perspective.

1. The hierarchy is basically nill. You can't really set up a promotion schedule of any sort as aside from officer and leader there are only 3 levels and no one wants to be the initiate so that leaves 2 for anyone that puts in say 2 weeks.

2. No guild bank, I have come to the conclusion this is not such a bad thing although it is a bit annoying now. What I have seen is much more sharing between guild members in chat that I had not witnessed in EQ2. Don't get me wrong people were really generous in EQ2 but they put things in the bank as it was probably the best way to handle it for that game, prevented alot of beggers in guild chat etc. What is also nice about no bank is I don't have to worry about cleaning the bank out and that was a pain in the *bleep* chore in EQ2 as someone was always putting in some stupid tooth that no one can use but to sell for a few silvers and then I had to go mail stuff to people who could use it.

What we have done to get around not having a bank until we get houses is to have a guild mule. Of course that means someone has to give up one of their precious 8 slots to have some dude that stands by mailboxes and brokers and bankers in his spare time but I took that one on as I would only make a mess of anything above 4 toons.

3. The point system. Well in raiding guilds I would bet they will use this to track points. Right now only officers and leaders can enter points. My guild is a casual guild that will be using raid points for the once weekly raid however we won't be using the points window for this. Instead we are coming up with a unique way to give points to members who have been good guildies. You can't promote people so you have to find something.

4. You cant tell when someone joins or leaves. There is no log page that shows any sort of guild accomplishments like discoveries etc. I loved going into my EQ2 guild and opening up the guild page to see what people did while I was at work or sleeping. I would also be able to see when we lose a member so I can follow up and find out why they left and get feedback on the guild as a whole from them.

5. Guilds are still uber bugged. I constantly have people not being recognized when I go to invite them and others that lose tags, and others that lose the guild entirely etc.

6. Guilds, aside from raiding guilds, don't have any special goals. Yeah we can gather together, buy and build houses etc. but there are not special things like the status system from EQ2 that bound the guild together in trying to level the guild and get special guild rewards. I would love to see something similar in this game.
