Slow but steady is my motto.
Our EQ2 guild started with a small group of 15 friends. In the begining the idea was to stick within a few levels of eachother throughout the game. But you always have power levelers and people who cant put much time in. It didnt take long before our guild was split into 3 subgroups. I think my subgroup enjoyed the game the most because we took our time and experienced more of the game. But we did also waste alot of time doing some quest that were boring and the payoff was useless. But we did them, and now we know, and knowing is half the battle.
The fellowship feature does sound interesting. I hope it will keep guilds more united in thier gameplay.
