The BS refining furnace in Leth Nurae is on the outside of the leftmost building as you're standing on the road looking at the fountain in the middle of the crafting area. (That may make it the west side, but don't quote me - I don't have my new-LN bearings yet.)
There was some issue with refining and other recipes in the last few days of beta which, I think, have been fixed.
That said, 7 chunks won't get you an ingot - you need 20 chunks to make 1 ore, and then you can refine said ore into ingots (once you get the recipe). Those basic refining recipes should be on the newbie trainers though, once everything is fixed.
Now to wait for live.... Are we there yet?!
