Just to throw my bit in.
I enjoyed raiding in EQ2 not because of the 'Phat' loot or such but because facing a challenge with a large group of like minded people is fun. Raiding with a farmiliar group of people let you learn about each other. Some get upset when they fail, others joke and some just hold it in till they burst at the seams. And when you suceed with that really tough mob there is a great feeling of finally achieving something togeather.
This same feeling can be achieved in groups. Im sure if you have played MPORGs before you can remember the feeling that comes with being in a realy productive group and getting deeper ino that heroic dungeon that you ever have before.
Online games are about meeting other like minded people and overcoming chalenges togeather. While its nice to think that you are some kind of god on the server, it much nicer to be in a team that works like a well oiled machine. Someone with a 'Phat' kit is not nesecarilarly the best player.
