The major limitations of consoles for MMOs are disk space and RAM. 20 GB HD on the 360 and ghetto PS3, 40 GB for the $600 model. I think both have 512 MB of system RAM. An MMO made for these consoles would be fine because they work within those limitations from the begining.
Porting a made-for-PC MMO over wouldn't work in many cases. Vanguard wants a whole GB of RAM and 20+ GB of disk space. You can stream certain things from the PS3's Bluray it makes patches and expansions more tricky. I hear Funcom fully intends to port Conan to the 360 which seems like it will work out fine due to zones plus having only 3 races, all of which are really all just humans.
