Re: Real Magick?
Here are my thoughts as a believing Christian:
1. if you define magick as anything outside of our 'science' (scientia (l) literally means knowledge) then there are certainly many things we do not know about.
in the bible, the greek word for 'sorcery' (the type of stuff that is forbidden) is 'pharmakoi', which also means poison and medicine, as well as sorcery. in other words, the greeks knew that poison and medicine worked, but they did not have any understanding of how...thus, "eat this to cure you sickness" was 'magick' to them. (this is actually why some very unfortunate Christians believe that they should not take medicine).
2. CS Lewis correctly points out that it would be a contradiction to burn witches if you don't believe such a thing exists. the bible doesn't say that witches and sorcery aren't real, it says not to get involved with that sort of stuff.
so...imo, depending on what EXACTLY you mean by 'magick' it is a very real, and very dangerous practice. putting your trust in magick (and yourself as its wielder) are putting a false god before the Lord.
