that's a lil out of date though. down to 3 Crafting Classes (Blacksmith, Artificer, and Outfitter) now with the possibility of the Alchemist (formerly Herbalist) coming in after launch sometime.

Well Thats four out of the five listed. (Alchemy replacing Herbalist in the future.)
And I think They reintroduce Stonecrafter at a later date as well. At least for the jewelry making. Plus once Player made cities enter the game there will be a need for masons.
So soon or later they will all be back in in one form or another. There just cutting down on stuff for release. Well at least thats what I am reading into it.

from some posts i read on the OVF awhile back (i really need to write these things down) it sounds like you will lose your level now if you change your crafting class. Hope I'm wrong there.

I hope not either. I hope its kind a like EQ1 where you can only get above two hundred in one skill with out Crafting Mastery AA.
So you have a primary that you will be able to craft the higher end gear in. then a secondary that you could craft general items. But then change over to another and build that up after you have maxed out your original secondary.
Actually I think they should do away with the whole limit thing. Limiting any sphere this way Kind a takes something out of it. I do Understand the specializing in ONE field but let us use all the secondary skills we want.
I'm not saying let us be the ultimate blacksmith and still be able to build the best boat. But We should at least be able to make the sails, cordage, Build parts of the wooden structure. andy any of the blacksmithed parts. Then get an alchemist to whip up a batch of sealant for the hull, decking, sails, THEN have a master Shipwright to assemble it.
Again this is just my interpretation of the info released so far and My guess on future patches/expansions.
