Using droppings is not a bad idea if you think about it.
Dried manure could be used as a fuel (especially in the desert areas of Qalia where wood is scarce) or (for non-ruminants like horses and elephants, that have fibrous droppings) used to make paper. It can also be added to mud bricks to strengthen them.
The more fanciful animals could have magical properties in their excrement. So the alchemist could need to collect them and use them in potions!
