We do know that there will be content for single players (about 20%) in Vanguard but most of the content will require groups, although my reading is that groups of 2 or 3 will have plenty to do. For me the answer is the Guild just make absolutely certain that the guilds attitude to the game matches yours before you join and agree a trial period.
I suspect most of us like to spend some time doing our own thing and I for one will avoid guilds that have many rules. "be nice and share" does it for me.
I am not a brillant fighter so tend to die lots so level loss would make my life very difficult however a support role in a friendly guild spending 60% in groups and 40% solo and exploring should work out.
